4th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment

Since 2015/16 CSH Transport has been proud to be a sponsor to the 4th Battalion Parachute Regiment Ski Team.  Over the past fifteen years Chris Haworth has assisted 4 Para as a liaison in the French Alps.

the Parachute regiments ski teams ski race (4Para) and pursue mountain and ski-based Adventure Training.  AT enables soldiers to live and sleep at altitude whilst developing survival skills such as avalanche awareness and frostbite prevention.  Racing is based at the Infantry’s annual championships located in the French Alps.  With speeds of up to 80mph skiing a thrilling discipline that tests all aspects of a soldiers skill set and nerves.

The aim of skiing in the Army is to enable officers and soldiers alike to experience a new range of challenges and managed risks.  Intense competition and training develop individuals alongside excellent team building opportunities.  An exposure to a foreign language and independence in a foreign country further enhance a soldier’s soft skills.
